Henrik Ibsen wrote 'A Doll's House' in 1879. The play is an astonishing yet accurate
portrayal of how women were treated in the 1800's and how some are treated till date. It shows the
controversial views of love and marriage and, divorce. It is a fore
runner to women's rights and Feminism.
It was perhaps the first time that a woman walked out on her family seeking her own identity and slamming the orthodox door behind her. One critic noted, "That slammed door reverberated across the roof of the world."
